Bonnie
& Clyde Historical Collectible #18/150
This collection of “Bonnie & Clyde” gangster items
includes an actual 30-06 bullet and shell casing fired from one of Clyde
Barrow’s 1918 Browning Automatic Rifles (BAR) used in the course of his
bank robberies in the early 1930’s.
This particular BAR was customized by Barrow by shortening the
barrel and stock to make it more concealable and was known as his
“Scattergun”.
The gun was
seized by Missouri State Highway Patrol officers after a shootout with
police at Bonnie and Clyde’s hideout in Joplin, Missouri,
in April 1933. Bonnie and Clyde continued on the run until they were killed in a
police ambush on May 23, 1934.
This BAR is currently on display in Jefferson
City, Missouri, at the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Safety
Education
Center.
Also included is a photo of Clyde Barrow with two of his favorite
BAR’s and a copy of an FBI Wanted Poster for Interstate Transportation
of a Stolen Automobile, the only federal crime that they were wanted
for.
The display also
includes a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the Superintendent of
the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a Highway Patrol shoulder patch, and
an NRA Foundation Medallion.
This collection is framed to archival standards and encased in UV
filtering glass by Framing & Floral Gallery in
Evansville, Indiana.
Only 150
of these prints are being produced, and the purchaser/winner of each
print will be entered in a drawing (to be held in December 2009) to
receive an Ohio Ordnance semi-automatic BAR, donated by Ohio Ordnance
Words, Inc.
This
fundraiser for the NRA Foundation is underwritten by Ohio Ordnance
Works, Inc., manufacturers of functioning semi-automatic replicas of
Browning Automatic Rifles.
